Job Description

We are  seeking an experienced communications manager to help lead Public Relations efforts around the company’ s growing wireless business. The manager will develop and execute integrated communications plans utilizing owned, earned and social media. They will partner closely with the wireless executive team to utilize communications to support the goals of the business, while also playing a key role in other aspects of the “ Corporate Affairs” team, including financial communications and crisis/issues management.

The ideal candidate has a background delivering media relations related to wireless, whether at an MNO, MVNO, or for a major vendor or services provider serving the wireless industry. The ideal candidate is also experienced in working with media across business, trade and/or consumer outlets, is skilled in executive communications, and demonstrates a proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams. They must be adaptable, high-energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop targeted communications plans to support the goals of DISH’ s growing 5G wireless business. Understand and simplify complex ideas and technical issues to make them relatable to those outside the industry. 

  • Create and oversee development of PR materials including news releases, fact sheets, media pitches, Q&As, FAQs, executive bios and social media posts.

  • Establish and cultivate productive relationships with media, including reporters across trade/industry, local, consumer, business and national outlets.

  • Develop and manage thought leadership plans for DISH’ s wireless executive team, including identifying and vetting opportunities with the most impact, handling logistics, creating briefing materials, and staffing speaking engagements and events.

  • Oversee a broad portfolio of topics and internal clients. In addition to wireless, play an integral role in financial communications (including earnings) and other “ Corporate Affairs” functions, such as programming, legal communications and rapid response.

  • Manage crisis communications as needed and quickly make recommendations.

  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to the company, prepare and media train spokespeople, and provide constructive feedback to executives.

  • Help manage resource allocation across the team and further develop highly capable communications professionals; lead team discussions and find solutions to team-wide needs.

A successful Corporate Communications Manager has the following:

  • Bachelor’ s Degree and   8-10+ years of PR and/or communications experience, ideally in the wireless industry and/or in a Fortune 500 setting.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective professional relationships with executives, colleagues and external partners.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency writing media relations materials, strong editing/proofreading skills and the ability to present effectively.

  • Solid attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines. 

  • Proven organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage projects autonomously
