Underground OSP Construction Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an OSP Construction Manager to oversee implementation of process and procedures, employee training and development, maintaining strong client relationships, and general efforts to support the ongoing growth of the business. The OSP Construction Manager will ensure management is aware of issues that impede progress on key objectives and assist with the development of necessary mitigation plans. All efforts are intended to support our continued commitment to the highest level of ethics, integrity, and excellence in all aspects of the company’ s operations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Senior Management on the development of in-house crews, business practices, and field procedures
  • Involved with tool and equipment purchases within established business unit budget
  • Manage Outside Plant construction from permit approval to build delivery
  • Work with Operations Support Team to accurately forecast construction start and completion schedules
  • Ensure projects are completed per client specification and within the allocated budget
  • Maintain construction tracking system ensuring data entered is complete and accurate
  • Responsible for ensuring that all projects adhere to internal safety policies, OSHA, and all other client, Federal, State, and local municipality regulations
  • Manage all internal resources to affect the timely completion of milestones (permitting, engineering and construction targets)
  • Attend and participate in internal and external meetings and coordinate all activities required to meet delivery
  • Act as single point of contact for internal groups for all assigned projects
  • Support field crews, including on-site help with completion of project work (i.e.: working on the crew to complete a project)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Job Skills:
  • Five years underground outside plant construction experience
  • Ditch Witch JT20 or equivalent machine
  • Clear understanding of outside plant, Right of Way (ROW), NESC code, NEC code and OSHA standards
  • Experience transporting equipment using pickup truck and trailer
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a DOT medical card
  • Experience operating underground equipment,
  • Commercial Driving License (CDL) preferred
  • Previous management experience
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 
  • Knowledge of understanding contract documents, drawings, and specifications 
Other Qualifications:
  • Ability to learn and support new and quickly changing technologies
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task effectively
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a sense of urgency
  • Basic computer and digital camera skills
  • Comfortable using a computer with Windows 10 Operating System
  • Experience managing people on similar type projects
  • Must follow company policies and procedures at all times
  • Must have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, a high energy level, and work well with people
  • Must maintain professional standards for grooming, hygiene, and appearance at all times
  • Must present a positive, professional image to employees, customers, and clients in all interactions
  • Strong understanding of wireless communications
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Availability to work Monday-Friday with occasional weekends and overtime as the project requires
  • Able to stand, kneel, and crouch for long periods, climb ladders, and lift up to 85 pounds
  • Willingness to travel (up to 100%) and support multiple markets
