Key Details:
Position: Central Office Installer – (Level 4)
Location: Buffalo, NY; projects in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany
Travel: Regular regional travel; occasional overnights
Vehicle: Personal vehicle required; mileage reimbursed at $0.40/mi
Pay: $30–$33/hr. DOE (negotiable)
Type: Full-Time | W2 | Contract-to-Hire
Key Qualifications:
- Level 4 CO/ISP installs: rack & stack, bays/ladder racking, grounding/bonding, cable management
- Run, stitch, terminate, and label Cat5, DC (primary/secondary), and fiber
- Fiber connectors SC/LC; MPO/MTP polarity verification and gender changes
- Read/apply PEC and I-Spec; trace circuit paths and identifiers
- Layer 1 test support: continuity, power/loss, endface scoping; basic OTDR/power meter
- MTSO/CO safety, clean workmanship, accurate as-builts/closeouts; valid driver’s license
- Nice to have: Verizon Wireless/Verizon Business familiarity
- Bonus: LGX/DCS/tap shelves, VW jumper flows, VZB Layer 1 expectations.
- Install, dress, stitch, terminate, and label Cat5/DC/fiber to spec
- Rack/stack equipment; place shelves/panels; perform grounding/bonding and cable management
- Build/manage cross-connects; validate MPO/MTP polarity; perform gender changes as needed
- Execute/assist Layer 1 testing; document results and remediate faults
- Follow PEC/I-Spec; coordinate with VW/VZB teams for correct turn-ups
- Travel between sites across Upstate NY; maintain quality, safety, and complete closeouts
