Data Center Regional Technician (Travel Nationwide)

We’re hiring 80+ experienced Layer 1 Data Center Engineers to support live data center cutovers and installations across the U.S. This is a true Layer 1 role supporting carrier and hyperscale environments.

Key Details
- Pay: $40-45 per hour DOE
- Schedule: 40 hrs/week
- Travel: Up to 75% nationwide (customer-managed travel / no out of pocket travel expenses)
- Shift:
- Arrive 5:00 PM
- Maintenance window: 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM (local time)
Requirements
- US Citizen
- Pass background check
- Eligible for NERC compliance (paid by customer)
- 3+ years data center / Layer 1 experience
- Willing to travel extensively
What You’ll Do
- Execute MOPs during live maintenance windows
- Â Layer 1 cabling and cutover activities
- Rack, stack, cable, patch, label, test (copper & fiber)
- Perform DOA, green-light testing, and post-install QA
- Coordinate onsite with engineers and field teams
- Maintain accurate redlines and as-built documentation
Must-Have Skills
- Copper & fiber cabling (Cat5e/6/6A, SM/MM)
- Reading network diagrams & patch schedules
- Using certifiers, OTDRs, light meters
- Rack/stack, airflow, labeling best practices
- Calm execution during live cutovers
Preferred (or Equivalent Knowledge)
- BICSI Installer
- Network+, A+, CCENT
- Cisco IOS / JunOS familiarity
- Data center experience required
