The Company is seeking a Director, OSP Fiber Engineering and Planning to serve in a critical leadership role that oversees all field engineering, drafting, design and permitting. This position requires extreme leadership and management skills to oversee and build a team of professionals to ensure quality and on-time delivery of all fiber designs to support a consistent construction schedule. It is imperative that the Director feels comfortable working in a fast paced, high growth organization and possess excellent organizational skills.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Support Company’s FTTH geographic expansion plans by leading an organization that includes full-time employees and outsourced vendor partners to perform FTTH engineering, inspection, and quality control of work performed.

  • Develop, strengthen, and expand our inside OSP engineering design capabilities to provide flexibility and less reliance on outsourced vendor partners.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently to achieve our annual FTTH objectives.

  • Be proactive and forward looking to ensure there is a strong pipeline of FTTH designs in progress & construction ready to absorb unforeseen delays without impacting annual FTTH build targets.

  • Report weekly on the number of FTTH passings by status: approved, design, permitting, construction-ready 

  • Ensures accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of the accounting for budgetary governance, project scheduling and status reporting.

  • Optimize the existing OSP infrastructure & design to support a lower cost per passing and provide a positive customer experience.

  • Drives the development of consistent execution through operationally efficient and effective processes.

  • Provide guidance to team and help find solutions for issues quickly and in a cost-effective manner.

  • Ensures designs, BOMs and addresses are accurate, calls attention to and resolves any discrepancies quickly and with authority.

  • Responsible for fiber capacity management and data integrity of all fiber routes.

  • Simplify complex goals and projects into easier to understand short term goals.

  • Knowledge of job-related processes including, but not limited to field engineering, drafting and design, and material procurement to allow for good financial decisions.

  • Strong understanding of all related software and tools used in the engineering and design life cycle management. (CAD, GIS, ESRI, Vetro, etc.)

  • Set and manage priorities for contractors and teammates.

  • Deliver exceptional results to internal customer and external stakeholders.

  • Identify, coordinate, and build relationships with city, state and federal entities as required.

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the department including but not limited to: hiring,, coaching, counseling, developing, creating positive teamwork and ensuring a rewarding work environment
 
Qualifications (Certifications, Training, Education Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 10 or more years of management experience in related field (i.e., OSP Fiber Engineering, Fiber OSP Construction,, and Telecommunications)

  • Leadership and strategic management skills to develop, coach, and direct the performance of a team to achieve goals and objectives.

  • Strong sense of ownership, problem solver, sense of urgency and ability to be proactive by developing contingency plans around unforeseen delays

  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills fostering an inclusive, supportive environment by motivating and developing staff at all levels.

  • Executive presence with which to interact and influence at all levels of the organization.

  • Skills and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing to convey complex concepts clearly and logically.

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, including the capacity to identify, assess and prioritize competing interests and needs.

  • Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity and rapid change

  • Preferred: BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired (i.e. Business, Engineering)

  • Preferred: 10+ years of management and leadership experience at the director and/or executive levels developing Network upgrade and build strategies in a telecommunications business environment preferred.

  • Must hold a valid driver's license Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
