We have immediate openings for Fiber Splicers. Splicers must know how to read, interpret, and understand splicing assignments. Experience with splitters is preferred but not mandatory. Must be able to operate a bucket truck. Splicers must have at least 1 year. The ideal candidate has the ability to work
effectively with a team or independently. For consideration, applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and with heights, have strong, working knowledge of hand tools, and have the willingness to learn
a skilled trade in a fast-paced industry!
 

Essential Duties:
  •  Read and interpret splicing docs, specifications, engineering drawings and/or cut sheets to determine work
  • to be done in sequence of task.
  •  Repair or splice in new line as needed to complete the testing and certification of the project.
  •  Place and install required enclosures to spec.
  •  Test all feeder, distribution lines and splitters to spec.
  •  Read and understand site plans, maps, diagrams, designs, and prints needed to support project(s).
  •  Utilize Bi-directional testing and OTDR meters to test spliced fiber for RFS.
  •  Ability to safely utilize bucket trucks or climb utility poles to place cables on poles per system design.
  •  Close a project by completing production sheets, verifying proper levels after activation, and adjust and
  • troubleshoot as necessary.
  •  Ensure that all work considers the safety of the customer and public and compliance with all governmental
  • orders,
  •  Ensure proper safety techniques and incident reporting procedures are followed.



Requirements
Experience and Education:
  •  Must be able to pass required DOT physical and have the proper endorsement for operating non- CDL
  • bucket truck.
  •  Minimum 1-2 years as a fiber splicer.
  •  Ability to splice with ribbon and lose tube fiber splicers.
  •  Demonstrated proficiency in FTTH build.
  •  Knowledge of building enclosures of all sizes.
  •  Understanding of and ability to use: OTDR testing Bi-directional fast testing meters.
  •  Ability to drive for results completing assignments timely and accurately.
  •  Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  •  Ability to handle multiple priorities with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  •  
  •  Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  •  Must be able to pass a drug screen, criminal background check.

  •  Frequent walking, standing, sitting within the work area.
  •  Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 75 pounds
  •  Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, peers, etc.
  •  Must be able to work in various weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, and dry)
  •  Ability to work in a confined space and at high elevations (poles, hydraulic lift buckets, ladders)
  •  Up to 50% local travel required to a variety of worksites (planned in advance)
  •  Must be able to work in a loud, noise-filled environment out in the field
