Job Description:
 

The RF Engineer is responsible for contributing to the RF Design of the regional wireless network. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Create site design RFDS and complete plumbing diagrams.
  • Perform radio engineering evaluations for system planning and site acquisition.
  • Evaluate coverage problems and requirements for coverage and capacity cells.
  • Utilize propagation tools and other RF-related equipment such as MapInfo, Google Earth, ATOLL for site candidate comparison, propagation and coverage review and selection, zoning, and regulatory determination.
  • Review cell sites and design for upgrades/modifications.
  • Create search areas and review search area candidates within the geographic area, considering performance issues, capacity, topography, and population.
  • Work with the performance team to improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the area of interest.
  • Prepare necessary zoning justification packages and regulatory filings for sites.
  • Work closely with the real estate team to increase efficiency, minimize cost, and streamline processes related to site acquisition, leasing, and zoning submissions.
  • Conduct RFE analysis, generate required reports and documents, and ensure 100% compliance with RFE mitigation standards within the allotted time frame.
  • Determine the required antennas for planned frequencies and their optimal positions.
  • Determine the required cable, antennas, and equipment to implement macro and small cell wireless network clusters.
  • Automate processes when opportunities arise and share information with the teams.

Tools Experience Required:
Advanced experience & demonstrated ability to use Atoll & Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Tools Experience:
iBwave, Fuze, Roofmaster, SQL, Visio, Ericsson performance tools, Visual Basic (macro creation)

Demonstrated Knowledge:
4G network design and implementation of tasks and knowledge related to:
  • Antennas, with a good understanding of band performance capabilities and limitations.
  • LTE KPIs and impacts of design on them.
  • Different types of losses and mitigation techniques.
  • Methods to calculate antenna gain and free space path loss.
  • Effects of outdoor terrain and indoor structures on signal propagation.
  • Use of topographical maps and digital terrain databases.
  • Antenna system design and use, including antenna types, patterns, gain, EIRP, ERP, antenna size, polarization, diversity, MIMO systems, and proper installation.
  • Macro and small cell site design considerations in various environments.

5-10 years of Experience
