Job Summary
As the External Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing Crown Castle's external affairs strategy. You will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, third party organizations, and community groups, to advance Crown Castle's priorities and achieve business outcomes. Your deep understanding of regulatory and policy landscapes in the industry will help you navigate complex challenges and provide strategic advice to the executive team.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement a comprehensive external affairs strategy aligned with the national strategy that supports Crown Castle's business objectives and elevates its brand in the industry
• Represent Crown Castle as a thought leader in meetings with government officials, industry associations, third party organizations, and community groups, advocating for policies and regulations that support the company's growth and competitiveness
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including elected officials, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and community groups
• Manage local and state level lobbyists
• Monitor regulatory and policy developments at the local and state levels and provide strategic advice to the executive team on how to respond to these changes
• Drive positive corporate reputation through community involvement and engagement, including local media coverage where appropriate.
• Collaborate with business units and internal teams, including Legal, External Communications, and Public Policy, to ensure that Crown Castle's external affairs efforts are aligned with its overall strategy and communications
Qualifications/ Education
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Telecommunications industry experience preferred; related or similar industry experience required.
• 8+ years of experience in external affairs or a related field, with a proven track record of success in building relationships with government officials, third party organizations, industry associations, and community organizations.
• Strong understanding of the regulatory and policy landscape in the telecommunications industry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and navigate complex regulatory and policy challenges.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing teams of geographically distributed professionals
