Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Fiber Splicers to support a large-scale fiber optic infrastructure deployment within a residential gated community in Laguna Woods, CA. This role focuses on high-quality, single?strand fiber splicing in residential and multi?dwelling unit (MDU) environments.
This is a hands-on field role requiring precision, efficiency, and the ability to manage daily install targets while working independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform single?strand fiber optic splicing at Network Interface Devices (NIDs)
- Typical NIDs support 4–8 units (average of 4 splices per NID)
- Execute direct burns to ruggedized fiber (no connectors or terminations required)
- Clean, prep, and splice fiber to ensure optimal signal performance
- Complete assigned installs within daily production targets
- Operate and maintain personal splicing equipment and hand tools
- Travel between job sites within the gated community using a personal vehicle
- Report each morning to a central staging office for dispatch and coordination
- Follow all safety procedures, site rules, and company policies
- Accurately track work time, including breaks and lunch, using an internal timekeeping system
- Communicate effectively with field leadership and project management
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience with residential and/or commercial fiber splicing
- Strong proficiency in single?strand splicing techniques
- Ability to perform direct fiber burns without connectors or terminations
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
- Ability to work independently and manage daily assignments effectively
Compensation & Work Conditions
- Hourly paid position
- Contract role for approximately 4 months, with potential for:
- Extension
- Long-term project placement
- Conversion to full-time employment
- Overtime opportunities may be available but are not required
- Mileage within the community is generally not separately reimbursed and may be reflected in the hourly rate
- Strict compliance with California labor laws, including:
- Meal and rest breaks
- Overtime pay
